Embedding Career Development in Everyday Teaching

Wednesday 1 April 2026

🚨 What if career development wasn’t an add-on in schools… but part of everyday teaching?

Across education systems around the world, career development is still too often delivered through one-off events, standalone programs, or external tools that sit outside the classroom.

But what if the classroom itself became the place where students regularly connect learning to the world of work?

📅 Join us on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, for a practical and evidence-informed session:

This webinar explores how career development can become a core instructional practice, embedded directly into classroom teaching from the early years through secondary school.

Drawing on fieldwork across 50+ Career Connected Schools in seven U.S. states, this session shares approaches educators are using to build career literacy by creating a common career language using the RIASEC framework.

You’ll discover how teachers and counsellors are:

✨ Integrating career conversations into everyday lessons
✨ Helping students map self and map the world of work
✨ Using simple dialogic strategies that require low lift for teachers
✨ Creating a relevance wrap that connects curriculum content to real world pathways

The session will also share insights from research led by Dr Cristina Santos, including evaluation from the Montgomery County Career Advising Program (MoCoCAP) involving tens of thousands of secondary students.

🎯 You’ll leave with practical strategies you can implement immediately, including:

• How to introduce a shared career language using RIASEC

• Ways to embed career conversations within the existing curriculum

• Approaches for scaling career connected practices across schools and systems

If you work in schools, career development, education leadership, or policy, this session will give you practical ideas to help make career development visible, routine, and meaningful for students.

Key learning outcomes

  • Explain career development as a core instructional practice, and why embedding it into everyday classroom teaching improves relevance, equity, and student engagement across schooling levels.
  • Apply the RIASEC framework and a shared career language to help students map self and map the world of work through integrated, dialogic classroom practices.
  • Identify practical strategies for implementation and scale, including coaching cycles, gradual release, and system-level conditions that support consistent, sustainable Career Connected Schools approaches.
